RIIRIS202E - Respond to Site Based Spills
A highly recommended course for: Team Leaders/Supervisors, Onsite/Depot Managers, HSE Officers and Employees, who are required to:
- manage a spill on their own.
- gain extra knowledge skills and benefit from a practical learning experience.
- obtain and execute the Organisational procedures, documents, and Spill Response Plan.
- communicate the spill event to others.
The Accreditation Level also assists with gaining qualifications for advancement and future employment and demonstrates capability to deal with spill events correctly and efficiently.
The Unit of Competency is a nationally recognised unit RIIRIS202E - Respond to Site Based Spills https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/RIIRIS202E which is part of the qualification of RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations, LEVEL 2 Group C Elective. https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/RII30820
Course duration is approx. 5 hours (approx. 3 hours theory and 2 hours for the practical exercise) The Course can be completed in the trainee’s own time and stopped and started again as many times as needed and has a validity period of 12 months.
The importance of the Organisations Spill Plan and assessing site spill risks is emphasised,.
Response Guides to “All Types of Spills” are included in our Resources Section covering - Oil Spills on Land, Soil and Water, Chemicals, Biohazards, Cytotoxic, Mercury etc
Full instructions on navigating through the Course are provided.
Included in the course is comprehensive online theory, as well as the best way to learn - Practical Spill Response Exercises where the “Steps to Spill Response” can be put into practice.
Instructions on resourcing and conducting the exercise are provided.
The Practical Exercise section involves the trainee conducting an actual spill event clean up. The Unit of Competency requires this to be observed on two separate occasions.
This is viewed via Zoom by the assessors for evidence gathering. Documents are also required to be completed and submitted.
On satisfactory completion of the theory and practical assessments, learners receive a Statement of Attainment
in the RIIRIS202E Unit of Competency.
